SocTech Symposium 2024:
Navigating Innovation, Transforming Social Service Development:
Making Good Use of Artificial Intelligence, Data Applications, and Cybersecurity
“SocTech Symposium 2024” organized by the Information Technology Resource Centre of the Hong Kong Council of Social Service, was successfully held on December 11, 2024. This year’s theme was “Navigating Innovation: Revolutionizing Social Welfare Services Development through Artificial Intelligence, Data Applications, and Cybersecurity”. The symposium attracted nearly 300 participants from various sectors, including social welfare management, IT professionals, and other industry stakeholders.
The Council aims to connect pioneers in the field to jointly navigate the social services sector. We were honored to invite several influential experts and leaders as officiating guests and speakers to share their insights and experiences. Special thanks to Mr. Daniel CHEUNG, JP, Deputy Commissioner (Digital Infrastructure), Digital Policy Office, for graciously serving as the officiating guests. During the symposium, several technology companies set up booths to showcase solutions that enhance service efficiency. Additionally, organizations that received the “Smart People Award” at the “Hong Kong ICT Awards 2024” shared their success stories, hoping these real-life examples will provide new perspectives for NGOs colleagues on the various possibilities of information technology. Furthermore, a certificate presentation ceremony was held, co-organized by the Hong Kong Council of Social Service and Google Hong Kong, to recognize NGOs colleagues who actively participated in the “HKCSS x Google Smarter Digital City: Cybersecurity and AI Innovation Workshop”.

Over 80% of participants expressed satisfaction with the outcomes of the symposium, stating that it effectively enhanced their understanding of information technology and the demonstrations of A.I. solutions helped to improve their organization’s operational efficiency. The symposium contributed to the social welfare sector’s exploration of technology-driven advancements and prepared them for future challenges. |
